The start in Trento was cloudy but dry. Immediately we went back to the bike path along the Adige River. Today it would also have been possible to
to turn off to Lake Garda, estimated 2-3 km was the shortest distance from the Adige Valley. But we remained true to our path. Beautiful
rests for cyclists there were today, original and lovingly maintained. Here we also saw a funny couple, maybe 70 years old, who wanted to experience
again what with their e-bikes with trailer and Swiss flag. They overtook us later, honking and laughing, and enjoyed life. Wonderful 🙂. Further
past vineyards and with continued beautiful mountain scenery came the last strenuous Hill towards us, the Monte Rocca. Here it suddenly began to rain,
well, uphill not particularly hindering. At the top we had a wonderful panoramic view.
After the rapid descent, a wider valley lies before us, along Canale Bifis, near the Adige river, the further path leads past fields and
plantations. Shortly before Bussolengo we weren't allowed to miss the turnoff over the canal bridge, then followed an ugly and busy road towards Pastrengo.
Arrived at the accommodation, unenthusiastic employees awaited us. They must have had a bad season here, the facility was beautiful, but somehow all the
employees here were irritable and overwhelmed. We only got a place for dinner because a German couple asked us to join them at the table. The bikes we
took right into the room, because I didn't feel like asking anyone for anything.
Early we first rode back the terrible road, then we passed through Bussolengo. We had to push our bikes through a seemingly endless market between masses of people.
Terrible, Manu's always happy 🙂. After that, the rest of the route to Verona led along the canal, and later along the Adige River. But it was sunny today,
Verona is beautiful, so we soaked up the beautiful sights: Castelvecchio, Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza dei Signori, Casa di Giulietta, Arco dei Gavi, Basilica of
San Zeno Maggiore and so on ... After hours we had to tear ourselves away, because we still had a few kilometers ahead of us, even if the stage was planned extra
short because of Verona.
The rest of the route behind Verona to Villafranca di Verona was very road-heavy. Hot, little shade and we constantly lost our way.
We drove up mountains into small towns, arrived at the top, we realized that our route would have been along the valley. And that several times 😳.
Also, in the meantime, it no longer went along the Adige River. But who agonizes, will be rewarded, it seems. Arrived in Villafranca di Verona,
we headed for the first bar. The accommodation was wonderful and the town center with the Castello Scaligero di Villafranca a small pearl.
After the tour of the city we shopped and ended the day at the picnic on the quiet bench in the front garden of the accommodation.
