Tangermünde - Rühstädt (75 km)

In the morning we had a good breakfast on one of the terraces at the market. However, this got spoiled by a large swarm of wasps. It was already early warm, we drove on quiet straight paths through the nature reserve Arneburger Hang. Afterwards we wanted to change the side with the ferry at Sandau, but there were signs before that it was out of order. After a short rest in the large manor house Büttnershof and the further way through the floodplains of the Old Elbe we took the ferry in Werben. With that we were in Brandenburg.

Mostly along the Havel, which runs parallel to the Elbe here for a bit, we enjoy the wonderfully quiet and very beautiful route to the stork village of Rühstadt. Here the Havel then also flows into the Elbe. We had to go to the next smaller village for accommodation and found a quiet farm with a very playful dog. Exhausted by the heat, it was already closing time and the rest of the evening was for refueling and playing soccer with the dog 🙂.

Rühstadt - Lenzen (50 km)

Back on the bike path, the beautiful route continued to Wittenberge. After a detour into the city center over the Stepenitz bridge, we continued on through wonderful floodplain landscapes with flocks of birds, wide meadows and isolated trees. In Müggendorf we visited a small farm cafe with super home-baked goods and were immediately in conversation with other cyclists. Always interesting for us what others drive for routes 🙂.

The Elbe is increasingly squeezed between dikes, so the path also often led very straight along or on the dike. At Lenzen we turned off the cycle path and drove the 2 kilometers into the town. After moving into our nice accommodation, we walked to Rudower Lake for a swim. Beautiful there, but we were no longer accustomed to the human density from our time on the bike path. So we found the peace only on the terrace of our pension. Well. Manu does not mind 🙂.
