Vercelli – Mortara (33,9 km)
Unrested, we took the equally bad breakfast and set off, first through the city center, then across a waterless river towards the rice fields. The landscape did not change from yesterday, rice, corn, rice, corn and mosquitoes. Shortly before Robbio we took a quiet road into the town, we were now in Lombardy. The heat forced us there again in the next bar. Further it went over the fields, endlessly, again exhausted we arrived in Mortara. Just inside the town I took care of in the first bar at the cooling beer for a place to stay.
Cheap was only a B&B around the corner and so we ran there. It went to the outskirts, conspicuously many aggressive dogs barked in the front gardens. Friendly we were received by a musician and his wife. A nice room with a garden was shown to us and the cellist told us about his concerts in Germany. It sounds most beautiful when an Italian in his aesthetic language pronounces the place name Ohrdruff 🙂.
For the evening he recommended us a cheap pizzeria, where we went in the evening, accompanied by terrible barking. We talked later with our cellist about it, he said that here many are afraid, the immigration in Italy is getting out of control ... there are many incidents.
Mortara – Garlasco (23,9 km)
We left Mortara through the center, passing the Abbazia di S. Albino, which lies somewhat on the outskirts of town. At the beginning, the path led through sparse forests, but soon the "beloved" rice fields caught up with us. In between we crossed again almost abandoned small towns. In Tromello, where we planned to spend the night in the pilgrim hostel, we visited the bar. We decided to continue walking there, otherwise tomorrow's last stretch would be too long.
It was not far and we reached Garlasco. First we visited the supermarket before we went to the pilgrim hostel, first drink, drink ... The hostel was quickly found in the small town. However, I found no one who opened to us. The sign said that only 21 clock someone came, now it was about 14 o'clock. I went to the church, asked a few people who were sitting around and called a given number. Nothing.
Did not like it, slightly annoyed we took the hotel 500 m further. Later we went to the nearby park and made extensive Picnic with lots of beer and wine, the day was saved 🙂.
