Espoo - Turku
Usually I handled it so that I changed the place in the morning and drove and explored the area in the afternoon by bike or on foot. So today it went to the Ruissalo campsite, about outside Turku. In the afternoon I went by bike to the city and visited there at the castle a medieval festival with tournament fights. The city is located at the mouth of the river Aurajoki into the Baltic Sea and is the oldest city in Finland. Otherwise, the city was not so handsome, I enjoyed the evening there rather at the foothills of the archipelago, where the campsite is located.
However, the route to the city and back was very nice. Once you have crossed the Ruissalo Bridge, you only drive along quiet paths through a wooded park. Behind the nature reserve with botanical gardens, small bays and beaches is the campsite in the last corner. Beautiful paths lead here along sandy beaches, now and then a large ferry pushed through the archipelago. In the evening a few people danced Finnish tango into the sunset on one of the wooden platforms. The dance is very popular in Finland, also came here from South America, but deviates in many details from the original Tango Argentino.
Turku - Vaasa
Along the Gulf of Bothnia today I went to Vaasa. Arrived in cloudy weather at the campsite Top Camping Vaasa, I marched first into the city shopping. From the offshore island of Vaskiluoto, where the campsite is located, the way led past small boat harbors and a closed adventure park. Over a land bridge I reached the city center. Except for the Lutheran Trinity Church, I found nothing more worth seeing for me and marched home again with my shopping.
I usually didn't eat hot until the evening, and the well-equipped campsites all had clean kitchens, so I never really needed my camp stove. On average 25 € I paid for a campsite. Food here is only a little more expensive than in Germany, but cheaper than in Norway. Only beer, I knew, was expensive. That's why I had 2 cases with 🙂
